Though it is true that President had subjected the Cabinet for a discussion to hand over management of essential services to be carried on during the event of a strike to Mr. Sarath Fonseka, President has not taken a decision to hand over such a post, Minister Mahinda Amaraweera informed at a media briefing held yesterday. Though President had made such a proposal in order to minimise public pressure at a time such as a strike by employing the professional experience and know-how that Mr. Sarath Fonseka possesses for the purpose of maintaining essential services with the co-operation of the three Forces, it was stated at that point that there are no legal provisions required to bestow such a position or appointment.
