When father looks for daughter in the room in the house ... a nude boy is near daughter's bed with condom in hand!

A father who got the devil into him when he saw a youth was getting ready to get sexually involved with his underaged daughter had battered the young man and as a result he had to be admitted to hospital and the incident was reported from Weligama, Matara.

This 13 year old girl studying in grade 9 had returned home after school and her father and mother had advised her to remain indoors and had left home on a matter which they had fixed for in advance.
However since it had been possible to finish off that matter earlier than anticipated, the couple could return home than the scheduled time.

As the door was found opened the father had searched for his daughter whom he had asked to remain alone in the house. On that occasion the father had proceeded to the centre room allocated to her and when opening the door slightly what met his eyes was the daughter lying stark naked on the bed in an upright position and an unidentified boy standing in the nude near her bed, trying to wear a condom.

With this sight in front of his eyes the father rushed into the room in a rage and after having closed the door had got hold of the boy by the srub of his neck and had begun to beat the boy over and over again and with a doorpost of the bed had battered him when the boy had collapsed on the ground in the nude sustaining injuries in the process. At that moment the daughter has pleaded with the father saying "ane thaththi ... don't hit him ... it was I who invited him no". Later what she had told was that the young man had kept on a love affair with her and as there was no one in the house she had given him a phone call and had got him down to the house.

Having got to know the incident neighbours and relatives had come to the house and had got the boy admitted to hospital. The girl who was a minor was directed to hospital for a medical examination. Weligama Police are conducting investigations in connection with the incident, it is reported.

'Nonidana rathriya' Lipton Roundabout makeshift shelter cleared away -- police use water cannons -- 13 under custody

13 campus students who had erected a makeshift shelter and engaged in a sathygraha at Lipton Roundabout in Colombo showing scant respect to court orders were taken into custody this afternoon. The police took action to remove the said makeshift shelter from that location and water cannons were used in the process of
dispersing the students concerned.

The student activists of the medical faculty who engaged in a protest by erecting a makeshift shelter by the name of 'Nonidana rathriya' were involved in chanting music throughout the night and in a sathyagraha too had said that it would not be shifted until the SAITM ssue is won.

The police who appeared on the scene armed with an injunction order from Colombo Magistrate Court made a request that the makeshift shelter be removed because it is a public hindrance and asked them to vacate the place within 15 minutes; however the students had not acceded to this request. The students have kept on questioning the police officers as to how it could become a public hindrance. After an exchange of words in that regard the Inter University Students' Federation released an announcement saying that without allowing sufficient time for the students to remove their belongings action was taken to disperse the students by resorting to an attack of high pressure water cannons.

On this occasion 12 male students and a female student was taken into custody. 8 students of Karapitiya Medical Faculty, 4 students of Ragama Medical Faculty and the female student are among them. The Antharaya has alleged that various items amounting to the value of lakhs have been taken into police custody and that bags containing books and documents etcetera of educational value and hired raincoats were among those; thus attacking them without leaving time to remove any of those things is unjustified.

Shooting at Judge ... a stray case; those who fired were intoxicated and disposed to fighting

The incident which took place in Nallur, Jaffna where a police sergeant on duty to provide security to Mr. M. Ilanchelian, High Court Judge day-before-yesterday evening had to succumb as a result of gunshots he faced. This incident was highlighted as a threat aimed at the judge hearing the Vidya murder case and it has now been
confirmed by police as something which actually did not target the judge as such.

At the moment when one of the police officers of the 2 police officers was in the vehicle of the judge while the other officer had been travelling on a motor cycle, there had been a traffic congestion. The reason for it was that 3 drunk persons had been involved in a fracas with a crowd at the three-wheeler stand closeby.

The deceased police sergeant in the vehicle had taken steps to inquire about the traffic-block. With the necessity of getting an opportunity of finding a way for the judge's vehicle to proceed, he had moved towards where the brawl was taking place by parking his motor cycle near the stopped vehicle. At that moment itself one of the drunk persons had come to that spot and grabbed the pistol from the police sergeant's waist and had kept on firing at him.

Because of this commotion the police constable inside the vehicle too had got down from the vehicle, pushing the judge by instructing him to take care. He too in turn had shot at the drunk person and at that moment the adversary who turned towards the other person who was in the process of shooting at him had shot at him after which he had got hold of a motor cycle of a lady nearby and beat a retreat. This person who shot of course, has not aimed any gunshots at the judge.
