Add comments

The number of lives taken away by the ruthless terrorists to quench their thirst for blood after unleashing massive destruction in the country, is countless.

These episodes of the dark era are being recalled to open the eyes of those who are endeavouring to forget the cruelty of terrorism.

A shell attack unleashed by the tiger terrorists on 26th November, 1990 in Batticaloa killed a brave soldier. Thus the ruthless tiger terrorists commenced their killing spree on 26th November during the fear psychosis period. On a day like today in the year 1995, the tiger terrorists launched a ruthless attack on the war heroes commenced the Riviresa Operation to protect the land from the terrorists. As a result 18 soldiers made supreme sacrifices on behalf of the unity of the country.

On 26th November 2007, the terrorists stormed into the Pemathuduwa village and unleashed an attack on innocent villagers killing four of them.

Demented by the heavy defeats they were suffering the brutal terrorists on 26th November 2008 launched an assault in the Andankulam area killing four brave soldiers. In the face of the attempts made by the tiger terrorists to quench their thirst for blood, they had taken away the lives of six civilians and 28 war heroes on 26th November throughout the dark period.

Under the bold leadership of the Commander in Chief President Rajapaksa and under the guidance of Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, the brave soldiers succeeded in annihilating terrorism on 18th May 2009, by the killing the ruthless tiger leader at the Nanthikadal Lagoon. If not for these efforts, the country would have been subjugated by terrorism.

With the eradication of terrorism, the country is enjoying full freedom for the last four years. Unity among communities has also been built. However, heavy attacks are being hurled by certain foreign forces at the country which is traversing on the path to become “Asia’s Wonder.”

World powers are seeking reports from the island nation on the humanitarian operation. However it is high time for them to make queries for themselves as why there are long delays in submitting inquiry reports on the carnage unleashed by them within their countries. The United States killed more than 500 innocent people in a cruel attack in the Noganri area in North Korea for three days from 26th to 29th July in the year 1950. But the US only thought of submitting a report on this assault 49 years after the attack that is in the year 1999.

The United States and Britain should make query with introspection their own eligibility to seek reports on the humanitarian operation mooted to save hundreds of thousands of lives in the country.
