Archbishop of Colombo His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith has stated that there are no places of origin in the north and east as those are places of birth.
In a special Christmas message he said that it is important to substantiate their right to live in those areas.
He said that people should resolve to live in harmony discarding all communal and religious differences.
He said that Christmas is not an occasion to cater to the commercial economy. It is an occasion to contemplate which raises awareness on the value of life. He called on the people to observe it with humility in an innocent manner. He said that that the home town is the place of birth. Anyone has the right to live there. The Sinhalese have arrived in the north while the Tamils have arrived in the south and it is an appropriate development as the country belongs to all people. The Archbishop extended greetings for a holy Christmas. (END)
