A German Mayor who understood the reality life through the Buddha Dhamma entered the Sasana at the Mihintale Sacred Area recently.
Herman Akar, the Mayor of the Oberndorf Municipal Council in Germany entered the priesthood. AS the head of a Local Council he had rendered yeoman service on behalf of the welfare of the people. He was trained in methods of meditation for mental development. He also took the initiative of securing a better knowledge on the Buddhist Philosophy when he met the Chief Incumbent of the Mihintale Raja Maha Vihare, the Ven. Walawahengunuwewe Dhammaratana Thera.
He entered the priesthood as the Ven. Germaniye Ratanasiri Thera at Aaradanagala in Mihintale doing away with laity hood.
