The Indian customs arrested three Sri Lankans who smuggled a stock of illegal gold jewellery to Chennai.
The jewellery was found in the possession of the Sri Lankans who flew from Katunayake to Chennai. The Indian custom officials said that the jewellery weighed 1.6 kilo grammes and worth more than 5 million rupees. Indian media reports said that the suspects are residents of Kandy and further investigations are being carried out into the incident.
