The President has stated in Hambantota that the responsibility of moulding a future generation that identifies the local values lies with women.
The 24th convention of the Hambantota Women’s Development Federation was held this morning under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksa and the First Lady at the Singapore community service centre in Hambantota. Speaking at the occasion the President stated that the main responsibility of creating a moral society in keeping with the cultural values lies with the women.
He said that taking care of the woman is a responsibility of every government. He expressed his appreciation on the services rendered by the Hambantota District Development Federation. The President also presented excellence awards for 6 zonal secretaries of the federation that has a membership of mothers from low income families. The First Lady awarded 6 manageresses.
The quarterly publication Devi was presented to the President after the award presentation. Parliamentarian Kamala Ranatunge, Hambantota Mayor Eraj Ravindra, Professor Carlo Fonseka and Chairperson of the Hambantota Women’s Development Federation K. Indrani were among those who participated in the occasion.
