Appeals Court President Skandarajah has passed away

President of the Court of Appeal Justice Sundram SriSkandrajah has passed away. He was 60. Justice Skandarajah was educated at the Manipay Hindu College and the Colombo Hindu College. He entered Law College in 1976 and took oaths as an Attorney–at-Law in 1979. He joined the Attorney General’s Department as a State Counsel in 1981 and then in 1997 he was appointed as a High Court Judge. He played a pioneering role in the building of a Courts Complex in Vavuniya.

Mr. Skandarajah made a valuable contribution in law suits related to Customs Superintendent Ajith Prasanna and the murder of Inoka Sewwandi, a female soldier of the Army. After being promoted as an Appeals Court Judge in the year 2004, Mr. Skandarajah assumed the position of the President of the Court of Appeal in the year 2011.

His remains are now lying at the Raymond Funeral Parlour in Borella.
