No one can forget the brutal slaughter of innocent people by the remorseless tiger terrorists, flagrantly breaching human rights.
These episodes portray this blood thirstiness and brutality of the terrorists. The entire world can see the ferocity of terrorism through these episodes.
Fighting raged between the war heroes and the tiger terrorists on 04th January 1996. As a result three brave soldiers made supreme sacrifices on behalf of the country. 04th January 1997 was a day which went down in history in which heavy fighting took place between the war heroes and the terrorists. Three members of the forces were killed in one such fighting at Kokkuthuduwai. Two war heroes sacrificed their lives in the battle which raged in the Punani area.
In the year 2000 on a day like today, the country lost the valuable services of two war heroes in an assault mooted by the tiger terrorists. On 04th January 2009, heavy fighting raged between the brave soldiers and the tiger terrorists. Six war heroes made supreme sacrifices in this battle. On the same day, the terrorists unleashed another attack on the war
heroes taking away the lives of five more war heroes.
Accordingly the terrorists had killed 34 people on 04th January throughout the dark era. This included an innocent civilian and 33 war heroes. This figure would have surged if terrorism was not uprooted from the country by killing the murderous tiger leader at the Nanthikadal Lagoon on 18th May 2009.
The war heroes advanced under the prudent leadership of President Rajapaksa, the Commander in Chief and the guidance of Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and eliminated terrorism which scourged the country for 30 years. It was genuinely a humanitarian operation. The sole aim of the blood thirsty terrorist leader Prabhakaran was to reach his target by slaughtering the people. But the prime intention of the President and the war heroes was to ensure the safety of the country and the people routing terrorism. This massive humanitarian operation mooted by the members of the forces to liberate the innocent Tamil civilians who were within the grip of the ruthless terrorists was a fitting lesson given to the entire world.
The humane treatment meted out to the ruthless terrorists whose intention was to destroy the country was a severe blow to Western powers such as Britain and the United States which blatantly transgressed human rights. These forces which encouraged terrorism are determined to see the island nation returning to that dark era.
Certain forces which are treacherous to the motherland have joined hands with the extraneous forces in this massive conspiracy. The main intention of these treacherous forces is to fulfill the aims of the terrorists and witness bloodshed in the country. No one can forget this ferocious period. These episodes remind the incidents that happened during the fear psychosis period so that no one will ever think of the country returning to that era.
