Strong winds will be experienced in the seas to the North of the island. There will be thunder showers in many parts of the country.
However, the depression has weakened. As such Director of the Department of Meteorology Ranjith Jayasekara said that its impact will be minimal.
The Met Department Director said that the depression has weakened. It persists in the Northwestern sea area. It is now moving away from the island. However, he said that there will showers in the Eastern and Northern Provinces. This is a better situation for the experiencing of monsoonal rains. There is also a possibility of thunder showers being experienced especially in the evening in the Central, Sabragamuwa and Southern Provinces. Winds at a speed of 60 kilometres per hour may be experienced today in the sea off the Northwestern Coast.
