Minister Basil Rajapaksa has emphasized that the Eastern Province is the best region for investments in Sri Lanka.
He assured the full contribution of the Central Government for such activities.
The Minister was addressing the Eastern Province Investment Promotion Workshop. It was held in Colombo under Minister Basil Rajapaksa’s patronage. Investors were briefed on the various investment opportunities available in the Eastern Province in the agricultural and livestock industry, tourism, road development, electricity and fisheries spheres. It was emphasized at this workshop that the Board of Investment and the Central Government would be giving maximum support for investments in the Province.
Addressing the workshop Minister Rajapaksa said that according to his experience, the Eastern Province is the best Province to invest in Sri Lanka. The Central Government is prepwred to fully support investments in the Province. The background needed for investments in the East will be prepared by the Government. The Central Government had also taken initiatives to upgrade the livelihoods in the East. He added that their desire was to carry forward these activities in the future with international support.
Senior Minister A.H.M. Fowzie, Ministers Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena and Rauff Hakeem, Eastern Province Chief Minister Najeeb A Majeed and many Provincial Ministers were present on the occasion.
