The Customs have seized parts of satellite receivers at the Katunayake International Airport.
A person who arrived at the Katunayake Airport early this morning in a UL 174 Sri Lanka aircraft from Bangalore waS arrested for attempting to smuggle in these satellite parts. The Customs said that the suspect was arrested for attempting to smuggle in 260 pieces and parts of satellite receivers and 50 kgs of big onion seeds worth 400,000 rupees. The goods were found cleverly stashed in four bags of the suspect. He is said to be a passenger who frequently travels to India and a resident of Colombo.
Customs Media Spokesman Leslie Gamini said that the satellite parts and the big onion seeds were confiscated. He was also fined 50,000 rupees.
