President declares open new building of the Colombo District Secretariat

President Rajapaksa has declared open the new Building Complex of the Colombo District Secretariat.


The Complex is located at Elvitigala Mawatha in Narahenpita. Work has been completed on six floors of the Complex under the first stage and the expenditure incurred on it was 1600 million rupees. The President declared open the new Building Complex of the Colombo District Secretariat this morning amidst the chanting of Pirith by members of the Maha Sangha. The President also joined in the launch of the new website of the District Secretariat. Construction work on the second stage of the Complex is scheduled due to be launched this year. This is expected to cost 3000 million rupees. The Complex will have twelve floors when the entire work is completed. It will also have a parking space which could accommodate 300 vehicles at a time. The District Secretariat could provide a more efficient serice to the people. Senior Minister A.H.M. Fowzie, Ministers W.D.J. Seneviratne, Susil Premajayantha, Dinesh Gunawardena and Gamini Lokuge, Deputy Ministers Geethanjana Gunawardena and Vijaya Dahanayake and Western Province Governor Alavi Moulana were among those present on the occasion.
