Northwestern Province reawakens with benefits of Deyata Kirula

Several development projects launched in the Northwestern Province parallel to the Deyata Kirula National Development Programme have been vested in the people under the patronage of the President.


President Rajapaksa who arrived in the Panduwasnuwara town declared open the new bus stand and shopping complex. The shopping complex has three floors. The expenditure incurred on this project was 80 million rupees. A group including many Parliamentarians was present at this opening ceremony.


The opening of the Mahindodaya Laboratory at the Hettipola Mahidodaya Maha Vidyalaya in Kuliyapitiya also took place under the auspices of the President. The President on arrival was accorded a warm welcome by the students, the School Principal and the staff. Thereafter the President vested the laboratory in the school children. 20 million rupees was spent on the construction of the Laboratory.


Speaking on the occasion, President Rajapaksa said that every parent is desirous of providing a better education at present. The President pointed out that whatever was done by the parents and if the children are not directed towards the correct path, the country will not benefit from them as they are the ones who are to take over the future of the country. Everyone should be in the habit of throwing away the bad while taking only the good. The Principal as well as the teachers should become a parent and a friend to the children and should talk about their issues. He opined that that the parents should always monitor the activities of their children. The President told the children to place their trust in the father and the mother.


The President also joined in the handing over of surgical and medical equipment to the Kuliyapitiya Base Hospital. This Base Hospital renders a valuable service in meeting the health needs of the people of Kuliyapitiya and the surrounding areas.
