All arrangements are in place for the conduct of the feast of St. Anthony’s Church in Kachchativu with the participation of Sri Lankan and Indian devotees.
3,460 Indian Tamil Catholic devotees have already been registered to participate in this annual Kachchativu Festival. Indian devotees were unable to participate in this Festival during the conflict period. However, with the peaceful environment being enthroned, a large number of Sri Lankan and Indian devotees are participating in it. The Sri Lanka Navy is providing all facilities required by the devotees.
A special meeting to deliberate on the organizational activities related to the Festival was held at the Jaffna District Secretariat. It was presided by Minister Douglas Devananda. It was revealed at the meeting that particular attention will be focused on the food and health facilities of the devotees. A special security programme is also in place, while special transport facilities will also be provided.
