Future generation should be groomed to receive development benefits – President

President Rajapaksa has said that students should be groomed to assume the future of the country which has achieved peace and development. The President made this observation opening Mahindodaya Technical Laboratories at several schools in Galle.


The opening of Mahindodaya Technical Laboratories constructed in several schools in Galle took place this morning under the patronage of President Rajapaksa. The President who arrived in the Galle area today for the opening of the Laboratories in schools received a high response from the people. The people who gathered in a large numbers on either side of the road and displayed keen enthusiasm to have a glimpse of the President warmly greeted him.


The President who declared open the new three-storeyed building of the Ampegama Nandasars Vidyalaya in Karandeniya equipped with an administrative Unit, an Advanced Level Laboratory and a Library, also seized the opportunity of exchanging pleasantries with the school children.


Thereafter addressing the school children, the President said that all children of the country now have plenty of avenues to win over the world with new technology.


The President next vested in the school children the Mahindodaya Technical Laboratory constructed at the Karandeniya Central College. The President received warm greetings from the school children. Remaining there for a while, the President emphasized to them that the children should win over the world securing what is required and discarding what is unnecessary.


The President said he believed that this was the era in which it was possible to effect a major transformation in education. It is the desire of all of them to direct the children to win over the world by effecting such a revolution in education. He told the children that they could fulfil their aspirations.


President Rajapaksa also declared open the Mahindodaya Technical Laboratory of Ananda Central College in Elpitiya.


The opening of the Children’s Park built in Elpitiya at a cost of seven million rupees under the Mahinda Chinthana Way Forward of providing the best to the children, also took place under the patronage of the President.


Thereafter the President joined in the opening of the new Wahalkada and the Shrine Room of the Negrodharama Vihare at Ketapola in Elpitiya. The people of the area extended a very warm welcome to the President at the Vihare. They also paid their tribute to him.


Minister Gunaratne Weerakoon, Deputy Speaker Chandima Weerakkody, Parliamentarians Ramesh Pathirana and Manusha Nanayakkara and Southern Province Governor Kumari Balasuriya as well as many people’s representatives were present.
