National Christian Collective queries Navi PIllay as to why only final stages of the war is probed

The Anglican Bishop of Kurunegala Rt. Rev. Shantha Francis has said that Navaneethen Pillay did not hold any inquiry during the first years of the humanitarian operation.

The Bishop made this reference at a media conference organized by the National Christian Collective at the Information Department today.

Bishop Shantha Francis said that the world should draw its attention to the first few years of the war. But Navaneethen Pillay did not do so. The terrorists received weapons which the forces did not possess. They also received training in the use of these weapons. They also received a vast amount of wealth. The world provided them not only weapons but training and funds to wage a battle. No one had the authority to talk about the final three years of the war overlooking 30 years of conflict.

Bishop Francis pointed out that if any law suit is taken up for consideration between two sides and if one side has some relationship with the person who is examining the case, the case will not be taken up for consideration as it is not proper to do so. The result would definitely be a unilateral decision. Although Navaneethen Pillay is from South Africa, she has some relations with Sri Lanka. As such, the Bishop added that she cannot submit any report which is not biased.
