The Inter Religious Alliance for National Unity has underscored that the tabling of Resolutions at the Geneva Human Rights Council amounts to undermining Sri Lanka’s freedom and a serious threat to its freedom.
Views were expressed at a news conference held at the Government Information Department.
The Ven. Kumburugamuwe Vajira Thera, the President of the Inter Religious Alliance for National Unity said that they considered this an unnecessary interference into the internal affairs of a sovereign country. It amounts to undermining its freedom. The prelate said that they seriously felt this as an unnecessary interference recalling past incidents as attempts to invade the island nation.
Co-President of the Inter Religious Alliance for National Unity Rev. Fr. Sarath Hettiarachchi said it is sad to note the actions of a group of local conspirators. Locally signed petitions are being sent calling for an investigation. They made optimum use by exploiting the war. But since the conflict has ended they are rendered helpless. Rev. Fr. Hettiarachchi added that they are attempting to give life to Prabhakaran and destabilize the country again.
The Ven. Pallekande Ratanasara Thera and the Ven. Galagama Dhammaransi Thera also expressed their views at this media briefing.
