The President has emphasized at the Homagama Mahinda Rajapaksa Vidyalaya that it was the present Government which discharged the outstanding part of the work for the development of the country and the education of the children.
The President on his arrival at the Homagama Mahinda Rajapaksa Vidyalaya was accorded a very warm welcome. The President who arrived at the school amidst tributes from past pupils, parents and the residents of the area unveiled the plaque and declared open the main entrance to the Vidyalaya. The President also declared open the first Mahindodaya Faculty of Technology. Under this programme, Colleges are being planned throughout the country to mould a generation, embedded with skills, changing the path of the education history of the island. Thereafter the President observed the Mahindodaya Faculty of Technology.
This programme has been unveiled under the second stage of the Mahindodaya 1000 schools programme.
The Mahindodaya Faculty of Technology is equipped with a Mechanical Engineering Technology Laboratory, a Civil Engineering Technology Laboratory, an Electrical and Electronic Technology Laboratory, A Diversity Network Technological Laboratory as well as classrooms and related equipment facilities.
The President also vested in the students the two storeyed building complex built for the benefit of the children of the School and also the new Swimming Pool today.
Expressing his views thereafter, the President mentioned that the Government has diverted an outstanding attention to mould a virtuous intelligent future generation that would not become a burden to the country as well as the society.
The President said that they have directed special attention to education. As in the case of developing the country, he said that special attention has also been focused on the development of education. The President added that what should be done was to build the moral existence of the children without make them a burden to society.
Principal S.H.N.D. Silva presented a memento to the President marking his visit to the school.
