No one can estimate the crimes committed by the LTTE terrorists who destroyed lives and property for over 30 years. How many more lives could have been destroyed by the terrorists, if terrorism was not eradicated. The dark memories recall the memories of brutal terrorism. 27 heroic soldiers lost their lives when LTTE terrorists launched a massive attack on the Elephant Pass, military base on the 27th of April 1991. Another three soldiers died when the terrorists attacked them at Vavuniya on 27th April 1995. LTTE terrorists ambushed and killed 22 soldiers on the 27th of April 1997 at Pulmudei. The country lost five soldiers on the same day during a terrorist attack at Thopur. On the 27th of April 2001 LTTE terrorists shot dead two innocent farmers in Polonnaruwa and on the same day killed 28 soldiers in an attack on forward defence lines at Nagakovil-Muhumalai. On the 26th of April 2006, a LTTE claymore mine took the lives of three soldiers. The motherland lost the lives of 18 heroic soldiers when LTTE terrorists launched several attacks at Pudukudirippu on 27th of April. By the 18th May 2009 when the brutal terrorism was eradicated, 123 people including 121 soldiers and two civilians had been killed by the LTTE terrorists. The heroic soldiers marched forward sacrificing their lives to save the country on the brave decisions taken by President Mahinda Rajapaksa and the directions of the Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa. They achieved peace for the country after many sacrifices. The people in the country will not allow anyone to destroy the hard won freedom and peace. Certain organizations are trying to implement western agendas while covering behind human rights. The patriotic people in the country are aware about them and know how to handle them. Therefore the traitors know more than anyone else about their fate. The patriotic people will never hesitate to defeat various conspiracies and forces while protecting the Head of State and the country.
