and advice to protect themselves from the Corona Virus.

The MERS Corona Virus is at present spreading in Middle East countries including Saudi Arabia. As such the Sri Lankan Foreign Employment Bureau has directed its special attention on Lankan workers serving in the Middle East.

Chairman of the Foreign Employment Bureau Amal Senalankadhikara said that of hearing of this development, Minister Dilan Perera issued immediate instructions to provide face masks to these Sri Lankan workers. Face masks are being given to migrant workers at the time they enter into agreements before taking their foreign jobs.

The Foreign Employment Bureau revealed that 50 thousand face masks had so far been issued. Employment Bureau stated that facilities have been provided for those who are returning to obtain medical assistance by presenting their passport in case they suspect that they have contracted the disease.

In the meantime reports have been received on many patients from European countries as well as from countries such as the Philippines and Thailand.

The Health Ministry announced that a Committee has been formed by the Foreign Employment Bureau in collaboration with the Ministries of Health, Muslim Affairs and Civil Aviation Services to prevent the MERS Corona Virus entering Sri Lanka.
