Soorya Mangalyaya is the annual programme launched by ITN for the Sinhala and Tamil New Year. Accordihngly this year’s Soorya Mangalyaya programme will be telecast from the “Ape Gama” premises in Battaramulla.
The Pattiwila public grounds in Biyagama is the venue of the New Year festival that is being organized throughout tomorrow.
All arrangements have been finalized to give a novel experience to the viewers, giving priority to Sinhala and Tamil cultural events and traditions in the Sooorya Mangalyaya programme telecast by the Independent Television Network in view of the Sinhala and Tamil New Year. The Soorya Mangalyaya programme will be held from 5.00 am up to 6.30 pm on New Year’s day.
The Jana Ranga Madala Cultural Pageant, the highlight of the programme, will begin on this day at 9.00 pm. All arrangements are in place in this respect and the viewers will have the opportunity of watching all these happenings live on ITN.
In the meantime ITN’s New Festival will be held from 7.00 am until 6.30 pm tomorrow at the Pattiwila Public Grounds in Biyagama. The selection of Avurudu Kumara and Kumariya and many traditional sports events will be the highlights. ITN is extending an invitation to the public to join in this programme and celebrate the New Year.
