The President has wished the veteran film director Dr. Lester James Peiris on his 95th Birth Day. He introduced the local cinema to the international audience. Dr. Lester James Peiris who is an internationally acclaimed film director, script writer and film producer, celebrated his 95th Birth Day yesterday. President Mahinda Rajapaksa and many actors and actresses who he introduced to the film industry were present at the ceremony. His wife Sumithra Peiris shared the Birth Day Cake amongst the gathering. Dr. W.D. Amaradeva who directed music for some of his films also wished his friend. Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, Deputy Minister Geethanjana Gunawardena, Media Ministry Secretary, Charitha Herath, veteran artists Raveendra Randeniya, Malini Fonseka, Sanath Gunatilake were present on the occasion. ITN also extends Birth Day wishes to Dr. Lester James Peiris who revolutionised the local film industry after commencing his career in 1956 by directing the film “Rekhawa”
