The President engages in religious observances at the historic Kataragama Sacred site and receives blessings.
President Rajapaksa visited the historic Kataragama Sacred Site and participated in religious observances. The President first visited the historic Kirivehera and received blessings after participating in religious observances. President Rajapaksa also joined in the Lakhanda Maha Adishtana Ashirvada Pooja at the Kirivehera Sacred Site. He joined in the Pinkama by lighting oil lamps. It was joined by a large number of devotees.
Lakhanda Radio usually conducts this Adishtana Pooja every month at various places of religious worship throughout the island. The Ven. Veherakele Saddhalankaratissa Thera conducted the Ashirvada Pooja. Lakhanda Deputy Director General Ashoka Karunayayake along with staff members joined in this Pinkama.
After participating in the Lakhanda Adihtana Ashirvada Pooja, the President arrived at the Kataragama Maha Devale and participated in a special pooja. He also made inquiries into the wellbeing of the devotees present and exchanged pleasantries. Present on the occasion was a group including Parliamentarian Sajin Vass Gunawardena.
