Minister Basil Rajapaksa claims that Western powers maintained silence during the 30-year war period, but were constantly making baseless and unfounded allegations after peace was enthroned in the country.

The Minister said that the people of this country received the opportunity of living in unity sans any differences as the war heroes ended the conflict in the country due to the leadership of the President and the guidance of the Defence Secretary. In addition the Government was able to grant much benefits to the people.

Although everyone is upbeat about these achievements, the Minister mentioned that certain elements are against them. Some Western powers since the enthronement of peace in Sri Lanka are jealous about it. Not a single Resolution was tabled in Geneva when bombs exploded and the terrorists committed murders for 30 years. But, Minister Rajapaksa pointed out that after Sri Lanka achieved peace, these Western powers had tabled four Resolutions against Sri Lanka in Geneva.

The Minister was addressing a conference to educate Government officials and parties concerned of the Kegalla District, on what action should be initiated to achieve expected targets of the Budget. The conference titled “Rata Neguma Development Drive” was held at the Public Grounds in Kegalla. Among those present were many people’s representatives.
