Special trains will operate to cater to the needs of the people who are returning to their homes in view of the Sinhala and Tamil New Year.
These special trains will operate to Badulla, Matara, Galle and Vavuniya from the Colombo Fort and the Maradana Railway Stations. The New Year special trains will be operative from the 09th to the 20th of this month.
A second Class compartment has been added to the Meena Gaya training which is running to Batticaloa. Sri Lanka Railways announced that several compartments has also been added to the express train which is operating from Colombo Fort to Trincomalee.
Additional trains will also operate for the convenience of the commuters who will be returning to Colombo after the New Year holidays.
