The National Poson Festival will be held centering Anuradhapura, Mihintale and Thanthirimale Sacred Areas. A Poson Week under the theme “Kalaguna Salakamu – Mihindu Himi Samaramu” has been declared from the 9th to the 16th of next month. Plans are afoot to hold a series of programme making the National Poson Festival centering on the Anuradhapura, Mihintale and Thanthirimale Sacred Areas. It is also planned to expand facilities as a large number of pilgrims and local as well as foreign tourists are expected at these sites. Arrangements are being made to provide food, water, sanitary facilities, public amenities as well as security needed by the devotees with the assistance of the North Central Provincial Council and local authorities. Sil and medication campaigns will be held at places of worship including the Ruwanweliseya, the Samadhi Statue and the Sri Sambuddha Jayanthi Vihare. A special Train service free of charge will be operative between Anuradhapura and Mihintale while special trains will also be operative from other locations. The public have been requested to adhere to the instructions displayed near the reservoirs.
