J'Pura female undergraduate meets with death ....
in accident on flyover
These days one hears of sudden deaths of campus students. A vehicle met with an accident early this morning on the flyover of Wanawasala along Colombo - Kandy main road and a Final Year student of the Management Faculty of the University of Sri Jayawardenepura met with death. She had faced this tragedy when she had been travelling with her family members.
The accident has occured when the driver of the vehicle in which she was travelling had been unable to get control of the vehicle which was moving towards Kandy from Wattala on the Expressway at the access point of the Wanawasala flyover which connects the Negombo -Kandy Road and had strayed across to the road on the other lane over the islet situated on the middle of the road striking the railing on the bridge.
The victim is a young girl of 24 years named Rajapaksha Kankanamlage Sanchala Shrini Rajapaksha resident in Peradeniya and had been studying in her Final Year at the Management Faculty at the University of Sri Jayawardenepura and she together with members of her family had been travelling to Dalugama having attended a funeral in Hendala, Wattala.
4 others in the vehicle who sustained serious injuries from the accident have been admitted to the National Hospital, Colombo.
What the police said was that they had received information that those injured are of the same family.
The dead body is lying at the mortuary at the Colombo National Hospital for the postmortem tobe conducted. Peliyagoda police are continuing further inquiries.
