No decision from Mahinda still!
Political sources say that the Opposition leader had met the former President in Kandy this
morning to inform as to how Mahinda Rajapaksa should contest at the forthcoming General Election. A special discussion took place among the President, Nimal Siripala, Anura Priyadarshana and Susil Premjayanth last afternoon. According to the decisions arrived at, at that discussion, Mr. Maithripala Sirisena has consented to give nominations to Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa to contest from United People's Front Alliance. Nimal Siripala de Silva has informed the former President about this. Whatever it is, nothing is reported about MP Nimal Siripala stating anything regarding a portfolio as Prime Minister. In any case, the former President had listened to this invitation; but had made no response to it on that occasion.That proposal is expected to be forwarded at the meeting of the leaders of the Alliance and to discuss the final decision pertaining to same. It has been understood that this decision would be officially announced by the former President tomorrow.
