Mental condition after Thevarapperuma's son's death is not good. Will be produced before a doctor - Akila Viraj
Deputy Minister Palitha Thevarapperuma who is involved in a fast unto death protest saying that the problem of several children not being admitted to schools is a case of injustice while it has been identified by Minister of Education Akila Viraj as a result of a behaviour related to a
mentally sick condition.The Deputy Minister who has mediated in an issue of not granting admission to children of Meegahatenna Primary School has made it a serious issue and was even involved in a dispute a few days before this over a hotel in Demata, Galle.
The principal who held a media discussion yesterday relating to children of Mirigama said that when there are other schools in proximity for those children and that after marks were given properly those children had secured low marks and thus no injustice has been done. Already a story is going around the UNP that it is not fit enough for a Deputy Minister to behave by creating headdlines in the newspapers saying that he would abandon Yahapalanaya if children are not given schools. Minister Akila Viraj has mentioned this at a question posed to him by Neth Radio Channel in this connection.
"We have come to understand that after his child's death that he has faced a minor mental condition. So what we have to say is that we would be taking action in the future in that connection as a Party. We also hope to inform the Speaker too about it and to produce him before a doctor for some treatment".
