Dengue prevention programme prior to commencement of next school term
A dengue mosquito prevention programme has been planned for three days covering all schools in the western province before the next third school term begins has been planned.This programme has been organized by the ministry
of health.The reason is obvious as everyday the number of patients with dengue is on the increase.Accordingly beginning from tomorrow a three day programme to eradicate the existence of the dengue mosquito has been organized from tomorrow until the 29th instant.
All schools in the Colombo, Gampaha and Kalutara districts have been targeted for this exercise. The dengue prevention unit of the health ministry has taken this decision as the schools were closed for a period of about a month and hence there could have been places around the schools where the dengue breeding mosquitoes may have spread.
The officials of the ministry of health have added that for this exercise 540 groups consisting of army, police personnel and representatives of the ministry of heath would be deployed.
