6 directors made sexual advances to me -- Music video actress Shashi Angelika

Sashi Angelica who says that she has taken part as an actress for the most number (151) of music videos in Sri Lanka is an actress who does not like nude, semi-nude or sensual scenes. She has revealed for the first time to a weekend newspaper about film directors who proposed illicit relations to her. It is as follows:

"I am from Bandarawela, Diyatalawa. Now of course I reside in Colombo. I do not engage in any other profession. I do only acting and announcing. Am not married. My mother, younger brother and I live with affection to each other. In normal life I follow Western fashions. My dress is short. But I have never appeared in scenes that are spoken of like that. A large number of music videos, both local and foreign rove about in Youtube. Of those, what is mostly seen are ones that focus on sexuality. There's nothing wrong in bringing them to focus in an artistic way according to the story that is relevant. But even if I get an invitation to act in one such creation, I wouldn't like to act in it. My personal policy is that I wouldn't take part in such scenes ... be it a music video, a high-class cinematic creation or whatever creation it is for that matter.

For a number of years I worked as an announcer for 'Derana' channel. Presently I work as an announcer for 'Siyatha' Rupavahini. Already I have acted in 4 teledramas. Where the cinema is concerned of course I have acted in only 2 films. I had opportunities ... but to get a good break ... it's only few and far in between (smiles). Though the number of films I have acted in are only 2, I have rejected 6 films. Directors of all those 6 films made sexual overtures to me. That's why I rejected those opportunities. Of the others I don't know. But what all those 6 directors said was that if I want to become an actress that sort of dedication should be committed. Of them I rejected 5 of them point blank. I even had to reprimand one of them in a harsh manner. There were newcomers as well as distinguished directors among them. It's not right for me to divulge their names ... but of course they are those who have won a big name in the field".
