Two more suspects linked to the murder of a Police Constable and his wife in Kamburupitiya have been arrested.
Police Media Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said that they had died while attempting to flee from custody.
The Police Media Spokesman said that a team of officers from the Matara Police arrested two more suspects over the killing of a Police Constable and his wife in Kamburupitiya. Following information revealed by them during interrogation a gun, a bomb and a sharp weapon were recovered from a location close to the Denagama tank within the Hakmana Police Division.
Following the discovery, the two suspects had jumped into the tank with the intention of fleeing. When they were drowning, the Police Officers had rescued them and admitted to the Gangodagama Hospital. But it was reported that before admission that they had died. A Police Officer who was injured in this incident has been admitted to the Hospital.
