Dr. Upali Pilapitiya bid farewell to the nation amidst public tributes.
Dr. Upali Pilapitiya was 74 years at the time of his demise. He rendered outstanding service for the betterment of Ayurvedic sector. He was a permanent secretary to the Ministry of Indigenous Medicine and the Director of the Borella Ayurvedic hospital and Navinna Ayurvedic Research Centre. He carried out research on Ayurvedic medicine and also promoted the system through the media. President Mahinda Rajapaksa visited his residence in Kesbewa this morning and paid his last respects. He expressed his condolences to Dr. Mallika Pilapitiya and other family members. Several Ministers also paid their last respects today. The funeral took place at the family burial grounds this evening.
