LTTE took 79 lives on 1st December days

The LTTE brutality was displayed to the world from the murders committed within a period of 30 years.


The tiger terrorists who entered the Kokilai fishing village on 1st December 1984 hacked to death 11 innocent Sinhalese people. Heavy clashes erupted after launching the Riviresa 1 operation on 1st December 1995. Heavy damage was caused to the LTTE while 43 soldiers also lost their lives. Two soldiers were killed in Muttur in Trincomalee on 1st December 2001. A group of innocent people were attacked in Panikkaniravi area on 1st December 2005 killing two of them. On 1st December 2006 the LTTE targeted the vehicle of Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa at the Pittala Junction in Kollupitiya. The Defence Secretary was not harmed although two members of the security forces lost their lives. On the same day two soldiers lost their lives in a claymore explosion in Jaffna. The gallant soldiers successfully defeated the attempt made by the LTTE to infiltrate the forward defence line in Manthai in Mannar on 1st December 2007. Two soldiers laid down their lives. When terrorism was eliminated on 9th may 2009 a total of 79 lives including that of 14 civilians and 65 soldiers were lost on this day. The valiant soldiers ushered in peace under the leadership of President Mahinda Rajapaksa teaching a lesson to the world. Attempts are currently being made to breathe life into the defunct terrorist outfit to bring the country into disrepute. The forces that remains silent before the human rights violations committed by Britain seek numerous reports about the conduct of our soldiers who rescued the people through a humanitarian operation. The patriots have displayed to the world thousand times that they are ready to risk their lives to defeat these forces.
