Higher education has reached a very high standard says S.B.

Minister S.B. Dissanayake has said that the renowned international universities and educational institutes are setting up their branches in the country to provide their services.


He pointed out that the higher education in the country has reached a very high standard. The Minister stated that measures are being taken to upgrade the universities to the international level. The main universities in the world are permitted to start their braches in Sri Lanka. A Japan Sri Lanka friendship university will soon come up with aid from The Japan International Cooperation Agency. He said that students from Japan, China, Pakistan and India will start arriving in the country.

He made the observation when he participated in a programme to award scholarships to the children of low income families until they finish their education. The scholarships were awarded to 310 children from a number of families. It was organised by the ‘Sri Lanka Senehasa’ Foundation under the guidance of Ven. Galagama Dhammaransi Thera who is the consultant to the Foundation.
