Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva has said that loans are being obtained for the development of the country.
He said that the benefits provided to the people through the loans outweigh the burden. The Minister stated that although the opposition says that the government is excessively indebted, the work could not have been completed for another 100 years without the loans. He said that there is nothing wrong in borrowing if the loans can be repaid. He said that Sri Lanka has never neglected repayment. The Minister expressed this view when he vested 3 water supply schemes in the public which benefit Bandarawela and 80 adjacent villages. Minister Dinesh Gunawardena, and Parliamentarian Rohana Pushpakumara were amongst those who participated in the occasion.
