An Australian Parliamentary delegation is very much satisfied about Sri Lanka. Appreciating the development in the North, the delegation said that they gained firsthand information on the North.
The Australian Parliamentary group on a visit to Sri Lanka claimed that whatever allegations were preferred by certain groups against the island nation vast development has taken place in the Northern Province. The Australian Parliamentarians lauded the initiatives taken by the Government to provide infrastructure to the resettled families.
The Australian Parliamentarians expressed these views after a meeting with Northern Governor G.A. Chandrasiri. Their meeting took place at the Governor’s Office in Jaffna. The Government told the Australian Parliamentarians that the ability of the Sri Lankan Government to resettle nearly 100 thousand persons within a short period was an example to the entire world.
The Government conducted Local Council and Provincial Council polls in the North and entrusted the ruling power to the people’s representatives. The Government underlined that this is the most secure period of democracy in Sri Lanka.
The Australian Parliamentary delegation assured the Governor at this meeting Australia’s full support of their Government for future development in Sri Lanka.
