Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva has emphasized that the law should be enforced against baseless statements made by persons such as Stephen Rapp and Navaneethan Pillay after arriving in the country. The Minister was addressing the Sri Lanka Freedom Party Central Organization meeting.
The Minister said that Stephen Rapp was visiting Sri Lanka and meeting various religious leaders. Unfortunately there are elements in the country making baseless allegations against Sri Lanka and being rewarded by foreigners. He pointed out that Sri Lanka was today facing the challenge of preventing terrorism which has been uprooted from the country, from returning to villages.
Legal action should be initiated against those who make baseless allegations against the country. He added that new regulations should be enacted if the prevailing laws are insufficient for this purpose.
