Jaffna gets three judicial complexes

Three Judicial Complexes have been opened in the North with the intention of enhancing judicial activities within the Province.


The opening of the three newly established judicial complexes within the Jaffna District took place under the patronage of Minister Rauf Hakeem. These have been established in Chavakachcheri, Mallakam and Kayts. The programme was launched based on grants provided by the Ministry of Economic Development.

The Government spent 160 million rupees on the construction of the judicial complex in Chavakachcheri. Accordingly the Courts complex which was operating in a private building is now being located in a permanent place after 32 years. The Mallawi Courts Complex was also opened today directing the legal sector to a new path with the routing of terrorism. It cost 176 million rupees. The Judicial Complex in Kayts was opened with the participation of a large gathering. The expenditure incurred by the Government on this Complex was 127 million rupees.

Minister Douglas Devananda, Northern Governor G.A. Chandrasiri, Chief Justice Mohan Peiris and Justice Secretary Kamalini de Silva were among those present at these opening ceremonies.
