The National Transport Commission is to supply tyres and tubes to bus owners at concessionary rates.
A local firm has already expressed willingness to supply tyres and tubes needed by buses at reduced rates. The programme will be initially operative for inter provincial bus owners. Thereafter the National Transport Commission has decided to supply tyres and tubes for other buses.
Private bus owners have to bear an additional expenditure on fuel and the payment of salaries for the staff. This is one of the proposals made at a discussion held under the patronage of President Rajapaksa and the guidance of Minister C.B. Ratnayake last year.
