The President declares open the new main office of the Western Province Road Passenger Transport Authority.
“Ranmaga Paaya” is the main office building complex of the Western Province Passenger Transport Authority which has been built with the intention of maintaining an efficient passenger service within the Western Province. It was vested in the public by President Rajapaksa this morning. The expenditure incurred on the building by the Western Provincial Council and the Road Passenger Transport Authority was 600 million rupees.
The six storeyed building is located at No: 89, Kaduwela Road, Battaramulla. The entire construction work was handled by the Sri Lanka State Engineering Corporation. It is planned to house the Western Province Road Passenger Transport Authority, the Transport Ministry and the Provincial Highways Ministry in this building complex.
A modern operations studio of the Road Passenger Transport Authority with all modern technological facilities has been established. It will enable the immediate sorting out of complaints of passengers and bus owners and issues of workers. President Rajapaksa also observed this studio. The modern bus operation service through the GPS System was also launched today.
The President launched the official website of the Road Passenger Transport Authority. Ministers Susil Premajayantha and Wimal Weerawansa, Western Province Minister Upali Kodikara and Chairman of the Western Province Road Passenger Transport Authority Amila Ranmandala were among those present on the occasion.
