Farmers in the Matale District are receiving benefits under the programme of providing pensions to farmers.
Measures had been taken to grant pension benefits to the farmer community in the Matale District under the countrywide programme of providing pensions to farmers. The handing over of pensions to 3438 farmers at the Tourist Hotel auditorium in Matale took place under the patronage of Project Minister S.M. Chandrasena.
Deputy Ministers Nandimithra Ekanayake, Rohana Dissanayake and Wasantha Lakshman Perera were among those present on the occasion. Farmers who received pension benefits expressed their gratitude to the Government for granting them a pension during their twilight years.
