All forces loyal to the country should unite to defeat conspiracies exerting pressure on the sovereignty of the country destroying national unity. The Lawyers Organization National Collective told the media in Colombo that everyone should be a strength to the forward march of the country targeting prosperity and peace.
Attorney Saman Galappatti said that extremist political forces have taken wrong decisions to create rift between the Sinhala Tamil and Muslim communities at a time when the country was traversing on a path to achieve development and peace since ending a 30-year old conflict. The Tamil National Alliance was supporting the international community in this respect. In addition there are some local forces including NGO’s attempting to create disputes in the country. Attorney Galappatti said that they wished to announce that they will not permit any force to destabilize the country.
Attorney Ravindra Manoj Gamage said that it is the innocent civilians of the country who will be severely impacted if the Geneva Conference was to enforce laws. As professionals they were calling on all responsible politicos of this country to face the problem as a country. He queried where it was the desire of the Northern Provincial Councillors to make Sri Lanka another Afghanistan, Iraq or Libya through interference. Their responsibility was to develop the North for the civilians of the region through the mandate they had received. Attorney Gamage said that what they were doing were crafting reports to meet the aspirations of the United States, Britain and Geneva. He added that this is a pathetic situation.
Attorney Kapila Gamage said that at one time a white flag issue was raised. No another issue was being raised to support the Geneva sessions. All these were being done to meet their personal agendas. Attorney Gamage said this is a collective made against Sri Lanka at the Geneva.
