Resources which could be used for the beauty of the country and to develop the economy was not possible in the past due to LTTE terrorism. The coconut estate in Passikudah is one such resource. It is being re-developed as a coconut cultural park at present. The estate is spread over 235 acres. Another 25 acres adjoining this estate will be developed as a tourist zone. It is expected that this will create opportunities to promote coconut based products and create employment for the people in the area. Minister Jagath Pushpakumara and a group of people inspected the coconut cultural park which is nearing completion under the supervision of the Coconut Development Ministry and the Economic Development Ministry.
