Plans have been made to setup “A” group blood centres at 6 main hospitals and “B” group blood centres at 13 provincial hospitals. “A” group blood centres will be setup at Trincomalee, Ragama, Peradeniya, Ratnapura, Vavuniya and Kalutara Teaching and General hospitals. A “B” group blood centre has been established at the Padaviya Base hospital and Minister Maithripala Sirisena inspected the centre. Asia has a high regard for Sri Lanka’s blood transfusion service. Arrangements have been made to hold the international Blood Donation Day ceremony this time in Sri Lanka.
