Chief incumbent of the Buddhangala Aranya Senasana, Venerable Kalutara Sri Dhammanada thera has passed away.
He passed away this morning at the National Hospital in Colombo. He was 88 years at the time of his demise. The remains were lying at the Colombo Jayaratna Funeral parlor until 1.00 p.m. today. The body was taken by air to the Ampara Air Force Camp grounds and thereafter the remains were taken to the Buddhangala Aranyasenasana by a motorcade. The remains of Venerable Kalutara Sri Dhammanada thera will be taken tomorrow to the Ampara Daham Medura Temple. He was shot at by terrorists several times but he dedicated himself to the welfare of the villagers. He was instrumental in establishing the Buddhangala sanctuary. The funeral of the Chief incumbent of the Buddhangala Aranya Senasana, Venerable Kalutara Sri Dhammanada thera will be held on Thursday at the Ampara Public Grounds under state patronage.
