Summarized and translated Tripitaka handed over to President

The Tripitaka summarized and translated into simple Sinhala Language has been presented to the President. Two Tripitaka books summarized and translated into simple Sinhala Language by the Tripitaka Editorial Board and a Tika book were presented to President Rajapaksa at Temple Trees yesterday. It is planned to translate 57 Pali sources books and prepare 49 Sinhala summarized books. 27 such books have already been printed. Four books have been compiled as hand written copies while another two books are being translated as hand written copies. This is operative as a special project at the behest of the President and under the guidance of the Buddhist Affairs Department. These books are due to be given to the public at affordable prices. The President handed over three more books to the head of the Tripitaka Editorial Board, the Mahanayake of the Sri Lanka Amarapura Maha Nikaya the Most Ven. Davuldena Gnanissara Thera. A documentary DVD prepared with details of 32 conserved village Devales and places of religious worship of historic importance in the Eastern Province was handed over by the Secretary of the Buddha Sasana Ministry M.K.B. Dissanayake to the President. Members of the Maha Sangha including Mahanayake Thera and many senior officials were present
