Secretary to the Ministry of Mass Media and Information Charitha Herath has declared that ITN is the Channel which has informed the country the role that should be played by a Television media in the development of the country.
Mr. Herath said that ITN’s completion of 35 years is an event of national significance. At a time when the country was in the midst of a severe war for 30 years, ITN was able to become a main stakeholder in the massive programme launched by the President and the Government to achieve victory. He said that as a State Channel it had the skills, capabilities and creativity to be the leading Channel of the country.
He described ITN as the TV Channel which educated the country the manner in which a TV Channel should contribute to the development of a country. The Secretary to the Media and Information Ministry expressed his gratitude and blessings to the Chairman, the Board of Directors and the staff on this occasion of the ITN Anniversary.
