The Department of Meteorology has issued a weather advisory. It has warned the people to be on alert from tomorrow.
The Met Department said that with the onset of the Southwest monsoon, there is a high possibility of an increase in the rainfall particularly in the Southwestern parts of the country and winds over the island and neighbouring sea areas during the period starting from tomorrow until Monday the 09th.
It said that there will be showers at times with heavy falls more than 100mm at some places in the Central, Sabaragamuwa and Western Provinces and within the Galle and Matara Districts.
The Department requested the Naval and fishing communities to be vigilant as deep and shallow sea areas off the coast extending from Mannar to Pottuvil via Colombo and Galle will be rough with strong westerly winds up to 80 kilometres per hour.
